Three long weeks into a state of extreme dessication from which I was pretty certain we’d never recover, swell, it appeared, and for three days we surfed.

These pictures are from Friday afternoon, when the rain turned suddenly to ice, and then just as quickly to these large and lovely snowflakes you see here. I also got out for a bit on Saturday (the best day of the three, with clear skies and clean waist-high sets), and then for a not-soon-to-be-forgotten Sunday session with my brother, which included a wetsuit with a broken zipper, a board that all but refused to float, and two sets of toes so frozen they might have chipped off like nubby icicles. Nevertheless, I was grateful to have gotten my brother out to half-conquer the winter ocean. Next time, he’ll be standing up for sure.

Super excited that Nahcotta will be carrying, alongside my Memorial Bridge photographs, this four-piece coaster set created from snaps I took of the bridge with my Lomo LC-A. (What you’re seeing here is just the card insert for the back of the packaging, the coasters are snazzier when looked at separately, I think.)

I kinda promised myself that my surf posts would just be journal entries - text only - and my photo posts would be shots taken on my analog camera. Well, tonight I’m breaking this promise because Michael Winters captured a fairly sweet moment from Tuesday’s evening session. An extra special moment because it’s a rare occasion when I have a personal photographer along with me at the beach. Thanks, Winters, next time I will be fully hanging ten.

This is probably one of the few digital images I’ll post here, but I couldn’t help it - I’m getting pretty pumped for the ETA show next Friday. Spending the afternoon off and on on the landing of my apartment varnishing the photos before delivery to Nahcotta late today or tomorrow. Thanks, Emily, for all your help.
